Boonah Airfield (YBOA) Site Rules

  1. Membership and Licensing
    All pilots must be current, paid-up members of SAFA (Sports Aviation Federation of Australia) and hold a valid licence that permits the operation of a powered paraglider.

  2. SAFA Compliance
    All pilots are required to understand and fully comply with the SAFA Operations Manual.

  3. Accident & Incident Reporting
    Any accidents or incidents must be reported to SAFA as outlined in the Operations Manual.

  4. VHF Radio Requirements
    For safety reasons, all pilots must hold a valid licence and carry and operate a VHF radio during flight.

  5. Noise and Neighbourly Conduct
    Pilots must fly considerately at all times. Please be aware of noise-sensitive areas to the north and avoid low or noisy flying in those zones.

    • Preferred Launch Area
      The recommended launch area for paramotor pilots is shown on the map below. It is suitable for all wind directions.

  6. Circuit Procedures and Radio Calls
    A standard left-hand circuit should be flown unless otherwise instructed. Pilots must make appropriate radio calls throughout their flight.

  7. Local Airfield Regulations (as per ERSA)

    • Standard operating hours for aircraft (excluding gliders and circuit training): first light to last light

    • Runway 04 departures are not permitted before 0700 local (except tug and glider combinations)

    • Glider operations: 0800 local to last light

    • Flight training and circuit flying:

      • Monday to Saturday: 0700 to last light

      • Sunday: 0900 to last light

    • Visiting aircraft are not permitted to conduct straight-in approaches

    • Tug and glider combinations departing runway 04 may turn right

    • Glider winch launches typically occur weekends from 0800 to 1100 local

    • Tug and gliders may use a right-hand circuit
