Jacobs Well (The Wedge)- Site Rules

  1. Membership and Licensing
All pilots must be current financial members of SAFA (Sports Aviation Federation of Australia) and hold a valid licence that permits the operation of a powered paraglider.

  2. Compliance with SAFA Regulations
Pilots must understand and comply with all rules and procedures as outlined in the SAFA Operations Manual.

  3. Incident and Accident Reporting
Any accidents or incidents must be reported to SAFA in accordance with the reporting procedures in the Operations Manual.

  4. Radio Communication Requirements
Due to the close proximity to Southport (YSPT) CTAF and Heck Field, all pilots must be licensed and carry a functioning VHF radio, monitoring and transmitting on Channel 119.

  5. Consideration for Local Residents and Landowners
Pilots must fly in a respectful and neighbourly manner. Do not fly below 300 feet unless specific permission has been granted by the landowner.

  6. Restricted Area – Horse Farm
The horse farm is a no-fly zone at low levels. Do not overfly below 500 feet under any circumstances

  7. Heck Field – Light Aircraft Awareness
Be aware that light aircraft operate from Heck Field, often from early morning. These aircraft will be broadcasting on the Southport CTAF frequency, so pilots must remain vigilant and monitor traffic in the area.
