What's Paramotoring

Detailed digram of Paramotoring flight system

What is Paramotoring

Paramotoring, also known as powered paragliding (PPG), is an exciting and accessible form of ultralight aviation. It combines the freedom of paragliding with the convenience and control of a small engine. Pilots fly through the air using a paraglider wing (a lightweight, fabric airfoil) and a paramotor — a compact motor and propeller unit worn like a backpack.

How Does Paramotoring Work?

Unlike traditional paragliding, where pilots depend on wind and thermals to stay airborne, paramotoring uses engine-powered thrust to launch, climb, and maintain flight. This means paramotor pilots can take off from flat terrain without the need for a hill or mountain. Once airborne, the motor can be used to gain altitude or turned off for gliding.

How much and how long before Im flying?

Wow, imagine this—within just a month, you could be trained and soaring through the skies! Paramotor training typically takes about two weeks, and while there are part-time options, it’s usually better to dive in and get it done. The cost for training is around $4-6K, and the gear will run you about $15K. But hey, if you’re looking to save a bit, second-hand gear is a solid option, ranging from $5-10K for a complete setup.

So, for as little as $10K, you could be all trained up and flying! How awesome is that? 😎
